Okay, so it’s nearly the end of January and now we have got a little bit of time to look back at what the bands got up to at Christmas and New Year. It was an incredibly busy time and it quite nice to have a little bit of respite before the year gets really busy again.
So, Jazz Juice has been performing at Cliveden House for the last seven years, and it is always a privilege to do so. The venue is simply exquisite and there is always a sense of occasion when you drive up the wide and perfectly manicured driveway up to the Luxury Hotel. This year a duo of guitar and saxophone was required to play on Christmas Day and returned on Boxing Day which was then accompanied by a five-piece party band called, “Big Mama Funk” in the evening for dancing and celebration into the wee small hours.
The following day the Jazz Juice duo was booked last minute to save a wedding! The happy couple were certainly unimpressed when we heard from them because they had several bands let them down, however they were a lot happier after they got in touch with myself, as I was able to fix this Duo for their reception and evening party. It went down incredibly well and there were very, very happy with how everything panned out in the end.
Forty eight hours after that, Jazz Juice were back at Cliveden for another wedding. This included our pianist playing during the ceremony and an evening trio playing Jazz and Up-tempo party standards. So the guests could initially relax and then be encouraged to get their grove on. This was followed by our DJ who saw the night out and the early morning in with pop and dance hits that kept the guests asking and wanting more.
The next time we were back at Cliveden House was New Year’s Eve were a trio consisting of piano, saxophone and double bass performed and saw the New Year in up until another DJ took over after us. It was not long until we were back again New Year’s Day so the band performing for seven hours in total! We were the entertainment and atmosphere makers for brunch and dinner, and that concluded our Christmas period this year.
It was thoroughly exciting and very, very humbling to be a part of such an incredible organisation delivering unrivalled quality to discerning guests. It gives me great pride to work with such a partner and I relished the opportunity.
MMM’s Jazz Juice were on the road again to support the launch of a new Pret A Manger store in Bath’s Southgate quarter this weekend.
Over two glorious days of August sun, the trio played through a variety of jazz, Motown and pop hits and had a great response from the audiences and general public as they enjoyed coffees and sweet treats courtesy of Pret.
Big thanks to Pret for having us once again!

This evening out Jazz Juice trio performed at the magnificent Institute of Directors on Pall Mall, London.
The chaps were there to provide background music for the annual Association of Women Chartered Secretaries summer party and networking event.
The IoD is a beautiful building, and the perfect setting for a quality evening of entertainment. It provides a fantastic backdrop to entertain clients, and the addition of a jazz combo like ours really makes a huge difference.
The guys played tunes such as Beatrice, Dolphin Dance, and A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square, and it seemed to go down very well, since the loudest cheer during the Chairman’s thank you speech was received by the band!
Let us know if you would like a similar band for your event, but get in touch soon, as the boys are in high demand!
On June 20th, Donald and Gary from Jazz Juice accompanied the Dunsmore Village Hall Association as they got together to share food and drink on the longest day of the year!
The setting was a beautiful home set onto the hill side overlooking the surrounding landscape including Wendover Woods as the sun came down. It was fantastic, and the music accompanied the setting beautifully.
The guys played tunes including All the Things You Are, Bewitched, April in Paris, and the Girl From Ipanema, some of which were caught on film – coming soon!
Stay tuned for updates over the next few weeks as Don, Gary and the boys are very busy with lots of great events! See you there!
Last weekend we were invited to perform at Haversham Village School’s 50th Anniversary. It was a fantastic event which celebrated the school’s success, with alumni and current students present. There was even a performance from some of the children which was great!
The Jazz Juice quartet was booked to play for a few hours with space for a couple of speeches midway through, and we mainly focused our repertoire to match the 50yrs of the school, adapting some hits within this period alongside traditional jazz band repertoire, to really set a beautiful atmosphere to the day.
Despite being prepared for the worst weather-wise in a marquee, the sun came out and the guests were able to enjoy the music and event in the sunshine! Perfect!
Tuesday 21st of April will be a day that Alex and Lucy never forget! They got married on a beautiful, sunny day, and had their reception at a pub in a small village in Northampton, where the narrow roads are flanked by thatched cottages.
We were booked to play for a 4hr stint on their big day, and were to be found performing inside the pub in the event of rain. Fortunately, this never came, so it was under the gazebo we went. Even the canvas couldn’t protect us from the warmth of the sun, as it travelled directly over the top of us, and managed to give us a bit of colour as it poked it’s way through underneath the canopy!
It was a privilege to play for Alex and Lucy, and we were able to play a number of their favourite tunes, including a few made famous by ol’ blue eyes, Frank Sinatra. We even had young Toby (a nephew who happened to have his trumpet in the car!) come up and play a few tunes with us! He did fantastically and has a bright future ahead of him.
The feedback all-round was wonderful, and it’s with much anticipation that I look forward to the next JJ performance, less than two weeks away!
Last night the Jazz Trio performed at Le Bistro in Wendover – a fantastic restaurant whose food is well respected county-wide.
We were booked specifically for a party taking place at the restaurant, and it happened that one of the customers was a jazz aficionado, requesting tunes such as ‘Flamingo’, ‘Sweet Georgia Brown’, and ‘Satin Doll’, which we were only too happy to perform.
It was lovely to see the guys dancing to our repertoire, as well as the other patrons who stayed longer to see the end of our set.
It sounds like the venue also want to create a regular jazz club night, with us as the house band – very exciting – so we’ll be sure to let you know when that comes to pass!
It is with great pride that we can say that we have provided jazz music at Cliveden House for the last couple of years.
The setting, service and commitment to quality throughout the organisation is incredible, and it has been a privilege to spend so much time there over such a special season of Christmas.
Our jazz solo guitarist and trios have been performing there on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, and the reception has been wonderful. We hope to be back again next year, working hard to provide the best quality performances. In the meantime we are looking forward to the New Year, and an exciting year ahead of similar performances – stay tuned!
