Celebrating Haversham Village School’s 50th Anniversary

Last weekend we were invited to perform at Haversham Village School’s 50th Anniversary. It was a fantastic event which celebrated the school’s success, with alumni and current students present. There was even a performance from some of the children which was great!

The Jazz Juice quartet was booked to play for a few hours with space for a couple of speeches midway through, and we mainly focused our repertoire to match the 50yrs of the school, adapting some hits within this period alongside traditional jazz band repertoire, to really set a beautiful atmosphere to the day.

Despite being prepared for the worst weather-wise in a marquee, the sun came out and the guests were able to enjoy the music and event in the sunshine! Perfect!

Wedding Reception in Northamptonshire – with an impromptu addition!

Tuesday 21st of April will be a day that Alex and Lucy never forget! They got married on a beautiful, sunny day, and had their reception at a pub in a small village in Northampton, where the narrow roads are flanked by thatched cottages.

We were booked to play for a 4hr stint on their big day, and were to be found performing inside the pub in the event of rain. Fortunately, this never came, so it was under the gazebo we went. Even the canvas couldn’t protect us from the warmth of the sun, as it travelled directly over the top of us, and managed to give us a bit of colour as it poked it’s way through underneath the canopy!

It was a privilege to play for Alex and Lucy, and we were able to play a number of their favourite tunes, including a few made famous by ol’ blue eyes, Frank Sinatra. We even had young Toby (a nephew who happened to have his trumpet in the car!) come up and play a few tunes with us! He did fantastically and has a bright future ahead of him.

The feedback all-round was wonderful, and it’s with much anticipation that I look forward to the next JJ performance, less than two weeks away!
