Jazz Juice Trio at the Institute of Directors

This evening out Jazz Juice trio performed at the magnificent Institute of Directors on Pall Mall, London.

The chaps were there to provide background music for the annual Association of Women Chartered Secretaries summer party and networking event.

The IoD is a beautiful building, and the perfect setting for a quality evening of entertainment. It provides a fantastic backdrop to entertain clients, and the addition of a jazz combo like ours really makes a huge difference.

The guys played tunes such as Beatrice, Dolphin Dance, and A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square, and it seemed to go down very well, since the loudest cheer during the Chairman’s thank you speech was received by the band!

Let us know if you would like a similar band for your event, but get in touch soon, as the boys are in high demand!

Bringing in the Summer Solstice in Style!

On June 20th, Donald and Gary from Jazz Juice accompanied the Dunsmore Village Hall Association as they got together to share food and drink on the longest day of the year!

The setting was a beautiful home set onto the hill side overlooking the surrounding landscape including Wendover Woods as the sun came down. It was fantastic, and the music accompanied the setting beautifully.

The guys played tunes including All the Things You Are, Bewitched, April in Paris, and the Girl From Ipanema, some of which were caught on film – coming soon!

Stay tuned for updates over the next few weeks as Don, Gary and the boys are very busy with lots of great events! See you there!

Celebrating Haversham Village School’s 50th Anniversary

Last weekend we were invited to perform at Haversham Village School’s 50th Anniversary. It was a fantastic event which celebrated the school’s success, with alumni and current students present. There was even a performance from some of the children which was great!

The Jazz Juice quartet was booked to play for a few hours with space for a couple of speeches midway through, and we mainly focused our repertoire to match the 50yrs of the school, adapting some hits within this period alongside traditional jazz band repertoire, to really set a beautiful atmosphere to the day.

Despite being prepared for the worst weather-wise in a marquee, the sun came out and the guests were able to enjoy the music and event in the sunshine! Perfect!

Wedding Reception in Northamptonshire – with an impromptu addition!

Tuesday 21st of April will be a day that Alex and Lucy never forget! They got married on a beautiful, sunny day, and had their reception at a pub in a small village in Northampton, where the narrow roads are flanked by thatched cottages.

We were booked to play for a 4hr stint on their big day, and were to be found performing inside the pub in the event of rain. Fortunately, this never came, so it was under the gazebo we went. Even the canvas couldn’t protect us from the warmth of the sun, as it travelled directly over the top of us, and managed to give us a bit of colour as it poked it’s way through underneath the canopy!

It was a privilege to play for Alex and Lucy, and we were able to play a number of their favourite tunes, including a few made famous by ol’ blue eyes, Frank Sinatra. We even had young Toby (a nephew who happened to have his trumpet in the car!) come up and play a few tunes with us! He did fantastically and has a bright future ahead of him.

The feedback all-round was wonderful, and it’s with much anticipation that I look forward to the next JJ performance, less than two weeks away!

Performing at Le Bistro, Wendover

Last night the Jazz Trio performed at Le Bistro in Wendover – a fantastic restaurant whose food is well respected county-wide.

We were booked specifically for a party taking place at the restaurant, and it happened that one of the customers was a jazz aficionado, requesting tunes such as ‘Flamingo’, ‘Sweet Georgia Brown’, and ‘Satin Doll’, which we were only too happy to perform.

It was lovely to see the guys dancing to our repertoire, as well as the other patrons who stayed longer to see the end of our set.

It sounds like the venue also want to create a regular jazz club night, with us as the house band – very exciting – so we’ll be sure to let you know when that comes to pass!
